What is Dermatology?
Our Dermatology Department has a longstanding reputation for delivering excellent care in the Quad Cities. Dermatology is the branch of medicine that specializes in the health, diagnosis, and treatment of all conditions and growths of the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatologists must complete 4 years of medical school and at least 4 years of additional dermatology-specific residency training to become Board-Certified by the American Board of Dermatology.

Dermatologists are also experts at skin surgery and skin cancer screening and diagnosis, as well as surgical or nonsurgical removal of all benign skin lesions including; precancers, moles, cysts, lipomas, keratoses, and cosmetic and age-related skin changes and lesions. Our dermatologists remove hundreds of skin cancers and benign cosmetic skin lesions every year. In addition to skin health maintenance, dermatologists also diagnose and treat all rashes and conditions of the skin.

We also specialize in Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancers on the face and are a prominent skin surgery referral center for other dermatologists and primary care physicians in western Illinois and eastern Iowa. Dermatology also encompasses cosmetic skin care and procedures such as; cosmetic removal of various lesions and spots, cosmeceuticals, chemical peels, laser treatments, Botox, and fillers, etc. Your dermatology provider can discuss any of these with you in person.
